UK Travellers head Long-Haul and get better deals on foreign currency
Post Office foreign currency research shows growth for long-haul destinations as UK holidaymakers head further afield this autumn
London, UK (PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) November 1, 2009 -- Many UK holidaymakers have decided to ignore the 'staycation' trend and are holidaying abroad, Post Office foreign currency research has revealed.
While short-haul non-eurozone destinations such as Turkey and Croatia have shown strong foreign currency growth, research shows that long-haul destinations are the real winners.
This is evident in the thousands of people who are changing their pounds to the foreign currency of long-haul destinations such as Kenya and Egypt, which have both shown huge growth in foreign currency exchange.
The Chinese yuan and the Indonesian rupiyah represent other types of foreign currency that are proving increasingly popular with UK tourists.
The Post Office foreign currency research report has advised that UK travellers can avoid extra foreign exchange costs by being more organised while planning their travels.
Sarah Munro, Head of Post Office Travel Services, said: "UK travellers can save themselves unnecessary extra cost by buying foreign currency in advance or taking the Post Office pre-paid Travel Money Card, rather than changing money at the airport or at an overseas ATM, and incurring commission fees or charges on cards."
