Celebrate Our Fifth Successful Year By Learning Ancient Art of Marquetry - A Fulfilling Pastime

Jan Walker is proud to announce her fifth season teaching the gratifying skill of Decorative Veneering on a 100 minute menu organized DVD.

Fort Macleod, Alberta (PRWEB) October 31, 2009 -- Jan Walker is proud to announce her fifth season teaching the gratifying skill of Decorative Veneering on a 100 minute menu organized DVD.

Come, join the ever growing number of Marquetry enthusiasts. Master the inexpensive, satisfying hobby of creating designs with wood veneers and/or shell, thin sheets of metal, bone, etc.

Years ago, when Walker discovered marquetry, only a few print resources were available to her. She had to teach herself, a hit and miss process she doesn't wish on anyone else!

"I wish to share what's been a real joy for me. Marquetry is one of the most rewarding pastimes I've learned, but it was also very frustrating at first."

Walker's instructional woodcraft DVD and associated veneer kit "Foothills Hiker", are the perfect gift at Christmas, or for any occasion. This project will appeal to those who value personal craftsmanship and quality woodwork.

Picture marquetry can easily be accomplished at the corner of the kitchen table with a minimal investment. No power tools are required to get involved with this handiwork!

Jan Walker Marquetry offers other original marquetry patterns, complete with a veneer key to help the more experienced craftsperson expand their expertise.

Educators take some time and visit the website to learn more about the excellent teaching tools available. School board inquiries welcome. The step by step video, superbly produced by Calgary's SKB Videography walks a student through these topics: handling veneers, tools and supplies, knife cutting, gluing and pressing the veneer to a substrate, sanding, finishing and artistic tips, plus much more. The companion materials (veneer) kit "Foothills Hiker" allows the student to cut along with the instructor piece for piece.

Robert Dunn, a freelance writer for woodworking magazines and a reviewer of woodworking teaching videos says, "The images are bright, crystal clear and well chosen. The close ups are perfectly done and clearly illustrate the specific lessons…Every step is clearly and completely shown. I was really impressed with the quality of the production and…teaching--it's truly a look over the shoulder of a master at work."
