This is the final event of the 2009 season and according to event organizers, it will feature a little something for everyone. “We have winged sprint car races, non winged sprint car races, stock car races, a pumpkin crash destruction derby and a special hayride and trick or treat for the kids through the pit area at the speedway,” said Kenny Shepherd with Chowchilla Speedway.

Friday evening will feature the Spec Sprint cars and the Hobby Stocks as they kick off the festivities for the weekend with a full program of heat races, “B” Mains, and “A” Main events. The top ten in the “A” mains from Friday are locked into the top ten spots for the big money shootout on Saturday night.

Also on Saturday night, the winged sprint cars roll into town with their high horsepower sideways flying show. The Bandit injected non winged sprint cars, the spec sprint cars, and the hobby stock cars will also run a full program on Saturday night.

Just after opening ceremonies at 7:30 pm, kids will have a chance to take a hayride through the pits and do some trick or treating from the race teams and drivers. There will also be a costume contest. “The winner of this contest will win two season passes for the 2010 race season at the Chowchilla Speedway,” said Shepherd.

All focus will then switch to the wall of pumpkins in the destruction derby pit separating the destruction derby cars on each side of the pit. Once the green flag is given to the derby competitors, the pumpkins will fly as they knock the lights out on the spectacular 2009 racing season at the Chowchilla Speedway.

Races start at 6:00 pm Friday night, and 5:00 pm Saturday night. Friday night tickets are $12 for Adults, $7 for youth 6-12, and free for kids five and under. Saturday night tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for youth 6-12, and free for kids five and under.

The Chowchilla Speedway is located at the Chowchilla Fairgrounds on Fifth Street in Chowchilla California. For more information go to www.racechowchilla.com.
