Author Darcel Turner of Dana Dances on Paper Presents Dana Dances On Stage: A WON Woman Show

Turner to perform in a one-woman stage adaptation of her semi-autobiographical novel

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 30, 2009 -- Darcel Turner, founder of publishing company Dances on Paper Press and author of Dana Dances on Paper, brings her semi-autobiographical novel Dana Dances on Paper to the stage with Dana Dances on Stage: A WON Woman Show. Taking excerpts from her novel and mixing it with the funky beats of DJ Moleculez, Turner will light the stage at the Bowery Poetry Club on November 19th and 28th.

In 2003, Turner released her novel Dana Dances on Paper. Over the past couple of years, she has developed her book into a one-woman stage show. Now ready to take audiences on a journey of love, loss, hardship, inner renewal and triumph, Dana Dances on Stage: A WON Woman Show is set to deliver a thought-provoking and inspiring performance. "This project comes from deep within my soul," said Turner. "To actually see it come to life and be able to share with people is truly a blessing."

Set during the beginning of the hip-hop era, Dana Dances on Stage: A WON Woman Show is a slick, upbeat and heartfelt story about a young girl named Dana who struggles to deal with the hardship of growing up in the urban streets of the Bronx. Dana has dreams of becoming a professional dancer showing the world the talent that is waiting to burst from within her soul. Her dream will be delayed as the twists and turns of life and the loss of her mother to a fatal disease leaves her rethinking her life's path. As she endures the journey of becoming a woman, Dana ultimately finds more than one way to "dance."
