Job Transition Workshop to Provide Useful Search Tips and Networking Opportunity for Government Employees

Columbia Books & Information Services and Roll Call are hosting job transition workshop for government employees transitioning to the private sector on Dec. 16, 2008.

Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) December 7, 2008 -- Columbia Books & Information Services (CBIS) and Roll Call will be hosting a job-training workshop and networking reception Dec. 16 for government employees who will be moving on from their positions due to the changes in the administration and Congress.

The program, "Revolving from Government: Conducting Your Job Search," will be split into two parts. The first portion of the program is an audioconference that will cover job-searching tips specifically for those transitioning from government. Speakers with experience in human resources and the government relations industry will speak on topics, ranging from updating resumes to researching employers, that will help government employees stand out in a pile of applications.

Participants will then be able to put their new skills to use at a networking event held after the audioconference. The reception will allow job-seekers to talk with headhunters including representatives from JobFox, RC Jobs, Korn Ferry, Federal Managers Association, Leadership Institute Jobs, government relations firms, associations, and DC area corporate employers.

Registrants of the program will also walk away with a resource packet to help them in their job search as they move on from the administration and Congress.

The audioconference will be held from 2:00-3:30 p.m. on Dec. 16. The networking reception will follow at the office of Hogan and Hartson from 5:00-7:00.

Audioconference speakers include Deanna Gelak, president of Working for the Future, LLC; Robert J. McGovern, chairman and CEO of Jobfox, Charles Ingersoll, government sector leader at Korn Ferry and Mike House, director of the legislative group at Hogan and Hartson.
