New Orleans to host 21st Annual International Conference on Technology in Collegiate Mathematics

New Orleans (PRWEB) -- With college readiness taking top billing in recent education policy debates, and American high schools failing to prepare young people to enroll and succeed in college, international experts are gathering in New Orleans this week to discuss how technology might provide a solution to this challenge and other hot-button education issues.

The 2009 International Conference on Technology in Collegiate Mathematics (ICTCM), chaired by Delgado Community College's Susan Caire and Patricia Roux, brings together international mathematics professors and teachers to participate in more than 100 sessions, workshops and hands-on minicourses. ICTCM's pre-session, "The Readiness Gap: Strategies for Success in College Mathematics," will feature discussions of the American Diploma Project, an initiative to raise the rigor of high school mathematic, school district and college partnerships, and the state of AP and elective courses in high schools.
